Hello everybody and welcome to today’s post – and my first post of 2024! I hope you have spent a beautiful time during Christmas and New Year’s Eve. I had fun with my friends and family while on vacation in Italy, and that’s also why I haven’t been very active on the blog recently. I wanted to start this new year together with a post on Stockholm, the beautiful city where KTH – Sweden’s best technical university – is located. I bet you always see the same pictures when googling “Stockholm”, so today I want to offer you a different point of view!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stockholm has plenty of beautiful neighbourhoods and monuments. Among my favourites are Gamla Stan – the Old Town – and Stadshuset – the town hall. I love Stadshuset because it has a spectacular view over S\u00f6dermalm and it’s very relaxing, even if it’s located in the city centre!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from the most famous landmarks, I find Stockholm to be very cute in every street. Here, you can find everything: from areas full of glass buildings and offices, to residential neighbourhoods with brick houses and gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The thing I love the most about Stockholm is the connection the city has with nature. Stockholm is a city on water, and it is also often called “the Venice of the North<\/a>“. When you come here, you easily understand why: there are plenty of lakes all around the city, and many of them freeze during Winter, offering unique landscapes. Also, constant access to water is guaranteed: there are many beaches around the city, as well as many parks and walks you can do right by the water of the archipelago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another perk of Stockholm is that, even if it is a European capital, it is small enough to be enjoyed by foot or bike, and doesn’t require you to have a car. Public transport <\/a>works great and can take you anywhere with good student discounts, and if you choose to walk you will easily encounter cosy corners and nice views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last but not least, there are plenty of characteristic places to get a fika<\/a> with your friends! Many cute cafes and cosy bars are waiting for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
