Hej, it’s Raygo here again! Today, I will show you guys to my favourite museum in Stockholm: ArkDes, to visit a recently opened exhibition showcasing the works of Tham & Videg\u00e5rd. If you are an architecture or design lover like me, do not miss this!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About ArkDes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1962 and located on the island of Skeppsholmen in Stockholm, ArkDes is also known as the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design. The museum mainly displays works of Swedish architecture, urban planning and design and occasionally organizes featured exhibitions just like the one this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a typical lesson of my weekly seminar course at ArkDes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Personally, ArkDes is also a unique and familiar place to me since I have class here every week for my architecture seminar course, where we attend lectures and look at architectural drawings and archives there. More than just a museum, it is also an ideal place to learn and dialogue with architecture!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tham & Videg\u00e5rd Arkitekter and the exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also based in Stockholm, Tham & Videg\u00e5rd is an award-winning architecture practice founded in 1999 by architects Bolle Tham and Martin Videg\u00e5rd. The projects of the company range from objects and interiors to large-scale urban planning and building designs. Regarding their most renowned works for KTH students, that would be our iconic architecture school built in 2015!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawings and models are being displayed under the transparent glass floor<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The entrance to the museum is conveniently located next to the main entrance of ArkDes and Moderna Museet (Modern Art Museum). From there, you can see a screen displaying the 3D model simulations of different projects of the practice. Walking inside the exhibition hall, you will immediately spot the difference between this exhibition and the others: the projects are shown underneath a transparent glass floor. The visitors walk on top of it and view from above freely in the order they prefer, as there is no marked path inside the open space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from this exhibition, there is also a zone in ArkDes where the regular collection is being kept. So, consider putting it on your bucket list of places to visit in Stockholm as well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
