1st KTH Symposium on Circular Economy for Early Career Researchers, 27-November 2019

Published Oct 08, 2019

The Circular Economy at KTH initiative (CE@KTH) is thrilled to announce a first symposium for early career researchers with the theme “Circular Economy for Sustainable Development: understanding the value and impact of the CE on businesses, environment, resources and society” to be held on 27 November 2019 at KTH campus. Contributions related to implementation and development specific solutions investigated through applied research are particularly welcome.

Time: Wed 2019-11-27

Location: KTH campus

The circular economy (CE) is a paradigm for economic development and a policy initiative. It is a response to the unsustainable, conventional ‘take-make-dispose’ economic model. The CE concept highlights the notion of replacing the ‘end-of-life’ in current production and consumption practices by reducing, reusing, and recycling products and materials in production, distribution and consumption processes. Promoting circularity aims at accomplishing sustainable development, and the circular economy has links to many of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The CE@KTH aims to establish and strengthen research and education in circular economy. It facilitates and strengthens long-term cross-sectorial and transdisciplinary collaborations in research and learning for circular industrial systems and strategies. CE@KTH works towards expanding collective competence of Swedish research and development teams and delivers expert assistance across industries in Sweden. Today CE@KTH is calling on young researchers to help push forward the agenda of research for sustainable development and circular economy in Sweden. If you are a PhD student or an early career researcher developing research relevant to a broad spectrum of research in circular economy or have interest in sustainability research agenda this is a unique platform for you.

The scientific program will consist of panel discussion from the KTH leading experts in the field as well as communications during thematic sessions. Our aim is to learn about ongoing research, hear your ideas for future research and to reach a consensus about the unmet needs of research on circular industrial systems and strategies.
