Spin Accelerator Sweden
SPIN Accelerator Sweden is a 12-week accelerator program for Sports Tech startups that support and empower the Athlete.
SPIN Accelerator Sweden
In the spring of 2019, the Swedish Olympic Academy partnered up with the global initiative HYPE Sports Innovation, to start the accelerator program Spin Accelerator Sweden. The program was powered by KTH Innovation and the Center for Sports and Business at the Stockholm School of Economics. The program was supported by Vinnova.
The Swedish Olympic Academy
The foundation Swedish Olympic Academy (SOA) was founded by the Swedish Olympic Committee, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) and the Karolinska Institute.
HYPE Sports Innovation
HYPE has built the largest, global ecosystem in sports innovation. With over 40,000 members, including retail brands, athletic clubs, federations and academia, together with over 11,000 startups, HYPE has an unrivaled capacity for outreach to global partners across all sectors in this highly diverse field. HYPE's business model is to leverage this platform to grow from the surging needs of the sports industry to innovate.
Combining the Swedish Olympic Academy’s knowledge of the Swedish ecosystem with Hype’s international network we aimed to give the participants in SPIN Accelerator Sweden the edge they need.

Additionally, the accepted startups got:
Business development coaching and mentorship
A program tailored to their specific needs
Access to the world’s largest eco system for sports innovation, with over 26 000 members
Access to some of the world’s largest sports brands, including Asics and Adidas
Access to a large investor network
Exposure for their brand
And much more
A unique opportunity
The selected startups received a unique opportunity to connect with a global network, grow and develop in their local market, and prepare for scaling on an international level.
SPIN Accelerator Sweden was one of four SPIN Accelerators running in parallel in the spring of 2019. Startups accepted to the program also got to connect with three leading Sports Tech universities, Trento University, Queensland University, and Loughborough University. Our motivation for arranging this program was to put Stockholm and the Nordic countries on the map as a SportsTech hub, and further build our reputation as a region of innovation.
How long was the program?
12 weeks, starting in mid-April 2019.
Can I apply next year?
2019 is the pilot year for SPIN Accelerator Sweden, but the plan is to run a yearly program focused on Sports Tech.
Are there any costs associated with the program?
No, but the program does not cover travel and accommodation costs.
Do the organizers take any equity?
Do I get any funding or investment via the program?
No, but you get access to a vast network of investors.
What stage should my startup be to apply?
You should have some early market traction, and have found your product market fit. You should not have completed an A-round.
How many startups will be accepted to the program?
Do I have to come to Stockholm?
Yes, on three occasions, once in April, once in May and once in late June. The rest of the program will be completed online.
Do I get office space?
