IEEE Kick-off Meetig for Young Professional Affinity Group (YP AG) at PES/PLES Sweden Section

Theme: “Bridging Academia and Industry: Career Journeys and Future Energy Challenges”

The IEEE Young Professionals (YP) Affinity Group within the Sweden Power & Energy Society (PES) Chapter is proud to announce its kick-off meeting. This event marks the beginning of a dedicated platform for recent graduates, early-career engineers, researchers, and innovators working in the field of power and energy.
The YP program is an international IEEE initiative designed to support members who have graduated within the last 15 years, helping them navigate the critical transition from academia to industry while fostering continuous technical and professional growth. By connecting young professionals with peers, mentors, and leaders, YP creates opportunities for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration.
Our mission in the YP AG is to:
· Build a community of young professionals in the power and energy sector, providing a space for interaction, inspiration, and mutual support.
· Bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that students and early-career professionals are better prepared for the challenges and opportunities in the energy transition.
· Enable career development and leadership opportunities, by creating events, seminars, and mentorship activities that help young professionals grow both technically and personally.
· Contribute to the global conversation on the future of energy systems, by highlighting the role of young professionals in shaping innovation, sustainability, and resilience.
The kick-off seminar will feature a keynote address by an experienced leader in the energy sector, followed by career-sharing talks from professionals at different stages of their journey. These discussions will provide valuable insights into how IEEE and PES membership can support personal and professional growth, while also highlighting the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration in addressing the evolving challenges of modern power systems.
As we launch this initiative, we warmly invite students, early-career professionals, and established experts alike to join us in building a vibrant, supportive, and forward-looking YP community in Sweden.
