Space projects involve particular strategies in system design such as simulation engineering. The french space agency uses this field of engineering in the development of a small vehicle (called rover) aiming to investigate one of the moons of Mars. The creation of this simulation environment starts with the design of its architecture. This study aims to derive this architecture. Based on the project documentation and objectives it asks : What is the simulator architecture that enables the validation of the flight software embedded in the rover ? The collecting of validation needs from the core team consist a first step that defines the content of the architecture. The training on the simulator development platform used at the french space agency provides the framing of this architecture. Taking into account this two steps lead to a relevant architecture that satisfy the project needs
