We expect scholarly contributions to reflect fundamental research on environmental humanities topics, but also to engage with ideas on how to address challenges and achieve transformations. We especially encourage communities to mix and propose path breaking and experimental activities, in addition to purely scholarly pursuits.
To this aim the conference offers seven working templates whereby participants can make presentations and interact with each other.
1. Call for panels
A panel must include a minimum of 4 presenters (excluding the chair). It should consider gender balance and diversity as for institutional background. For a panel submission, please send: (a) 250-word abstract of the panel; (b) 250-word abstracts for each of the 4 panelists; (c) name, email, and affiliation for each panelist. DEADLINE BY NOVEMBER 30TH, 2019
2. Call for debates
In order to foster constructive discussions which acknowledge the diversity in the field, the conference welcomes proposals for two-speaker panels aiming to have a debate between two divergent positions. Please, submit a 300-word abstract which includes (a) the theme of the debate; (b) emails and affiliations of the two speakers. DEADLINE BY NOVEMBER 30TH, 2019
3. Call for individual papers
Please submit a 300-word abstract including (a) your email and affiliation; (b) four keywords. DEADLINE BY NOVEMBER 30TH, 2019
4. Call for artistic interventions
The conference welcomes any proposal for artistic interventions (including small exhibitions, poetry readings, performances, etc.). Please submit (a) a 300-word abstract presenting the intervention; (b) a detailed form listing the kind of infrastructures needed for the intervention (space, lights, special amplification, etc.). Please consider that the time for each event should not be longer than 90 minutes (including the discussion). DEADLINE BY NOVEMBER 30TH, 2019
5. Call for films
In order to submit a film, please provide a 300-word abstract and a link to a trailer. Be sure to include the length of the film. Only those who will be short-listed will be asked to provide the full movie for final selection. DEADLINE BY OCTOBER 15TH, 2019
6. Call for experimental sessions
In the spirit of being undisciplined and creative, the conference welcomes submissions for experimental sessions, that is, any kind of session which does not fit with the canonical conference frame (and cannot be included under the typologies illustrated above). In particular, we encourage sessions which will experiment with communication and interaction among the participants. Please, submit a 500-word abstract describing the contents and the modalities of the experimental session. DEADLINE BY NOVEMBER 30TH, 2019
7. Call for streams
A stream is a group of at least three events (Roundtable, panels, debates, artist/creative interventions, etc.) dedicated to an overarching theme. The proposal must contain only an abstract (300 words) explaining the theme and its relevance for the EH. The approved proposals will have their own call for papers and will submit the final stream of events to the programme committee later in the process. DEADLINE BY OCTOBER 15TH, 2019
