Welcome to the sixth annual Swedish transportation research conference! The conference covers all means of transportation and all transport related questions. It welcomes contributions from all disciplines and areas covering analysis, understanding, planning and evaluation of the transportation system.

Carl Ceder, Logistikchef Lidl Sverige
Logistik – kanske framförallt hållbar logistik – har sedan länge varit en prioriterad fråga för Lidl Sverige, ett bra exempel på det är hur vi under 2016 ställde om till att ha 100 procent alternativa bränslen i hela vår fasta lastbilsflotta. Det är ett av många exempel på hur vi i praktiken arbetar med hållbar – och inte minst kostnadseffektiv – logistik som jag kommer att tala om på KTHs årliga nationella transportforskningskonferens.
Mike Smith, Professor emeritus, University of York
Michael Smith is Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of York, in the UK. In 2007 he was awarded the Robert Herman Lifetime Achievement Award by INFORMS (the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences); for fundamental and sustained contributions in transportation science and logistics.
His main interests are in the design of practical control systems for congested urban transport networks; including the use of traffic signals to help achieve congestion reduction targets and more general transportation and traffic management targets. He designed the P0 signal control policy which automatically maximises the travel capacity of a signal-controlled road network, under natural assumptions (which exclude blocking back); with no knowledge of drivers’ origins or destinations. He has also developed ways of solving certain transportation models having a reasonably wide class of demand functions and a reasonably wide class of cost (or supply) functions.
