Graduation ceremony

The KTH graduation ceremony is held twice in May and twice in December for newly graduated architects, masters of science in engineering and master's degree holders from KTH. You have the possibility to participate in the graduation ceremony within 1 year from your exam.

Four steps to the Graduation Ceremony

1. Is your degree issued in Ladok?

To attend the ceremony your degree has to be issued in Ladok.

2. Sign the inquiry

To be able to book tickets you must have signed the Inquiry . Invitation to the booking page is only sent to those on the inquiry list.

3. Tickets are released and booking opens

An invitation, including the password to the booking page, is sent out November 11th at 11 o'clock. The number of seats are limited. First come, first served.

4. The Gradutation ceremony

The upcoming ceremonies will take place December 15, 16, 17 & 18 2020 and May 26 & 27 2021.

 1. Is your degree issued in Ladok?

To attend the ceremony your degree has to be issued in Ladok. You personally need tot apply for a degree to receive one. You will find more information on how to apply for a degree here.

Please note that if you have completed a bachelor's degree as part of a five-year engineering or architectural programme, you are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony when your M.Sc. or M.Arch. has been issued.

When you receive your degree certificate, you will find information on how to book your tickets to the ceremony. Your degree needs to be issued no later than April 7th, for the ceremony in May, or November 10th, for the ceremony in December.

2. Sign the Inquiry

To be able to book tickets you must have signed the inquiry . Invitation to the ticket released is only sent to those on the Inquiry list.

3. Tickets are released and booking opens

The invitation will be sent out November 11th att 11 o'clock to everyone who has signed the inquiry and who has a degreee issued in Ladok. In the e-mail you will find the password and a link to the booking page. To sign up you need to state your name, e-mail, your program and the names of your guests (max 2/graduate).

The number of seats are strictly limited to 400 graduates/day. First come, first served. When the number of seats are filled, the booking page close. 

4. The Diploma Ceremony

The Graduation ceremony is the academic ceremony when KTH celebrates the newly graduated architects, masters of science in engineering, master's degree holders. The ceremony takes place in the Blue Hall at City Hall (Stadshuset). The diplomas are given out by the President of KTH or the Vice President of KTH.

Rehearsal

The ceremony and rehearsal of the ceremonywill take place in the Golden Hall at 3.30 p.m. the same dat as the ceremony takes place. All graduates has to be on time, already dressed in the clothes for the evening. Tha main entrance will be opnened for admission of graduates from 3 p.m. Graduate's guests are welcome from 4.20 p.m.

The diploma

At the ceremony in the Blue Hall, diplomas are given to all the graduates who attend the ceremony. The diploma is a memory of the day and does not fulfill any formal function. your degree certificate is your proof of your degree. The diploma as given to the graduates who participate in the ceremony. 

Dress code

The dress code is formal evening dress or neat business attire for graduates and graduates guests. 

Guests

Since the rehearsal starts at 3.30 p.m., graduates and graduates guests can not arrive together. The main entrance opens to guests at 4.20 p.m., seats must be taken no later than 4.45 p.m. and the ceremony starts 5 p.m. sharp. The ceremony is interspersed with song and music performed by the Royla Technology Choir under the direction of conductor Rikard Karlsson and KTH:s Academic Chapel under the direction ac director musices Mats Janhagen.
