KTH offers Sino-Swedish IT matching

Published May 15, 2007

The Joint Research Center of Photonics (Jorcep) is the joint body in optical research set up by KTH and its Chinese partner, Zhejiang University, near Shanghai. Together they now offer help with "match-making" of Swedish and Chinese industries and enterprises involved in photonics. This undertaking is carried out jointly with Acreo Research, with support from Sino-Swedish consultant Fuyang Photonics.

This project has been named "Match-making between Swedish producers and Chinese buyers & partners". It is an export-oriented activity aiming to introduce small and medium-size Swedish photonics companies on the Chinese market and to build up local contacts for increased exchanges of products and ideas. This could really include anything – from opening new doors for export to stimulating Swedish manufacturers to transfer some of their production to China. Also, Chinese investors are welcomed to set up shop here in our country.

– Thanks to our long standing in China, and the intensive exchanges of research staff we have between our two countries, we also enjoy good relations with Chinese business life, says Professor Lars Thylén, KTH, one of Jorcep´s executives. Obviously, this is something we also want Swedish business people to share with us.

The project contains a package of business strategies with focus on new Swedish action in China; it also includes support for producing information tailor-made for the Chinese market. Potential partners in China will then be selected for the Swedish companies that take part in this effort.

Representation at important technology fairs and exhibitions in China will be included, too.
