Published Feb 27, 2019

KTH now ranks 36 among the world’s universities for engineering and technology, according to QS University Ranking, which released its 2019 subject rankings this week. Overall, KTH reached its best result yet in the QS, with eight subject areas ranked now in the top 50 worldwide.

“It shows that there are several subjects at KTH which have the visibility and impact in the scientific community, which is needed to assert itself in these types of measurements,” says Per-Anders Östling, KTH’s ranking experts. “It’s a very positive result.”

Better performance in two indexes formed the basis of the improved scores: Academic Reputation and Employers Reputation. Other contributing factors were the number of citations and H-index (a measure of citations).

Within the QS subject ranking, Statistics & Operational Research (ranked 39), Computer Science & Info Systems (ranked 41) and Mathematics (ranked 44) appeared in the top 50 for the first time.
