On 4 October, Microsoft's charismatic managing director Steve Ballmer will be coming to KTH. In a speech to the students, he will talk about and show examples of new services, products, business models and the latest collaborations.

The theme of Steve Ballmer’s speech at KTH is "The new digital lifestyle". How new trends in technology facilitate interconnected digital experiences across several platforms; PC, mobile telephones and television - and how all this will become possible through new services in the cloud.

It is not by chance that Steve Ballmer is visiting Sweden's largest technological university.

"Microsoft has identified KTH as an interesting cooperating partner. We have also recently concluded a cooperation agreement, and we are interested in discussing its further development," says Peter Gudmunson, President of KTH.

Marie Ygge, Sales Director for the public sector at Microsoft in Sweden, is of the same mind as Peter Gudmunson.

"There are several reasons why Steve Ballmer has chosen to visit KTH. The strategic cooperation and the projects which KTH and Microsoft are operating together are an important reason," says Marie Ygge.

Peter Gudmunson is of the opinion that Steve Ballmer's visit will be both enjoyable and exciting, and it indicates that KTH is of interest to global large enterprises such as Microsoft.

"Considering KTH's strengths within the ICT area, it is of great value and rewarding to establish a closer relationship with Microsoft. KTH would like to take up more space within this area," says Peter Gudmundson.

Another reason why Steve Ballmer is coming to KTH is that he has a personal interest in talking to the students. He values meeting them in different situations so that they can talk about their visions, but it is just as important to listen to and answer students' questions.

"We very much look forward to a rewarding afternoon at KTH and hope that the students ask Steve many questions!" says Marie Ygge.
