Let's close the Internet gender gap!
More than 80% of all biographies on Wikipedia are about men. A gender gap that it's high time we close. On international women's day we gather to make the Internet more equal and we need your help. Welcome to WikiGap at KTH!
Come to the KTH library on March 8th and help us write and publish articles about prominent women in technology for Wikipedia.
Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Wikimedia, KTH is arranging an edit-a-thon that will last for 4 hours between 14:00 and 18:00 and end with a mingle, where we gather and review the results. We will work in teams of about 4-5 people using a volunteer from Wikimedia to guide the work.
13:30-14:00 Briefing for participants of the edit-a-thon
14:00-14:30 Efraim Gomez from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who worked with gender equality linked to peace and security at the UN Security Council, Associate Professor Nina Wormbs, and John Andersson from Wikimedia
14:30 to 18:00 Edit-a-thon to make Wikipedia more equal
18:00-18:30 Mingel for the participants
The opening of the event will be held in English.

Participate in the WikiGap competition
WikiGap 2019 starts on International Women's Day, March 8th. It will also be the start of an international online competition that will last during 1 month. The volunteers participating in WikiGap between March 8 and April 8 collect points when they contribute to increasing the representation of women on Wikipedia. The WikiGap volunteer who has the most points at the end of the competition wins a gratitude prize in the form of a diploma signed by Foreign Minister Margot Wallström. The competition is completely voluntary and you can still participate in the edit-a-thon on March 8th without participating in the competition.
Organizers do not influence or take responsible for the content produced by the volunteer writers under WikiGap. Everything written by WikiGap volunteers undergoes the same quality control as other content on Wikipedia, which means, among other things, that you can not write articles about yourself or your organization (conflict of interest) and must be able to refer to credible sources.
