Alumni reception at the Swedish Embassy in Reykjavik

On November 4, 2019, an alumni reception was held at the Swedish Ambassador’s residence in Reykjavik, Iceland. This was the very first alumni reception in Iceland and alumni from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Karolinska Institutet (KI) and Stockholm University (SU) laughed, shared stories and had a chance to make new connections.

The event was an initiative from the Swedish embassy in Iceland and held, in part, to recognize the Stockholm trio , an alliance between the three Stockholm based universities and in connection with a Study in Sweden fair also arranged by the Swedish Embassy to inspire Icelandic students to study in Sweden.

The alumni reception was well attended. Gunnar Olafsson, Promotion Officer at the Swedish Embassy in Reykjavík wished all alumni welcome. He affirmed the strong relation between Iceland and Sweden and emphasized the importance of a strong network. Erica Öjermark Strzelecka, Alumni Relations Coordinator at Stockholm University, presented the Stockholm trio and the fact that the three universities together would be top ten in the world should their ranking be combined. The guests also listened to KTH alum Albert Albertsson  who presented the history and evolution of the Blue Lagoon and shared how his education at KTH helped him think outside the box.
