Christina Dahlstrom Dr. Christina Dahlstrom at Mid Sweden University has been awarded the Alf de Ruvo scholarship of SEK 500,000 for her basic operations on surface roughness of coated paper. Christina Dahlstrom was born in Sundsvall in 1977. She took her Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at KTH and received her PhD in Chemical Engineering at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall in 2012. (2014-01-29)
Lena Nordegren SEKAB has hired Lena Nordegren as the company's new expert on renewable fuels. Lena Nordegren has since 2003 worked on the development of future biofuels in Sweden and Europe. Among other things, she was president of BioAlcohol Fuel Foundation BAFF, between 2008 and 2010. She also has extensive experience as a lecturer and organizer of national and international conferences on sustainability issues and biofuels. Petter Lindblad, M-95 "Resan till fjäderkungens rike" is Sweden's first feature film in 3D, and is produced by KTH-alumnus Petter Lindblad. The animated adventure film reach the theaters on March 21 and will also compete in the Berlin Film Festival. (2014-01-14)

Paras Prasad UB faculty member Paras Prasad has received an honorary doctorate from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden (KTH) for his pioneering work in areas including the use of light-based technologies to address important, global health problems. Prasad has a long track record of collaboration with KTH staff, working on joint research and acting as an external adviser in two grant-funded KTH projects in biotechnology and nanotechnology.

Per Claesson AkzoNobel Sweden Science Award till Per Claesson, KTH och Lars Hultman, Linköpings universitet. AkzoNobel Sweden Science Award, ett av Sveriges mest prestigefyllda forskningspriser, delas idag ut till Per Claesson, professor i ytkemi vid Kungliga Tekniska högskolan i Stockholm, och Lars Hultman, professor i tunnfilmsfysik vid Linköpings universitet. Enligt juryns motivering är pristagarnas forskning i internationell framkant och har fått stor praktisk betydelse.
Av tolv stipendiater som i år får dela på 1 150 000 kronor från Hans Werthéns-fond har fyra stycken bakgrund i KTH. Stipendierna delas ut av Kungl. Ingenjörsvetenskapsakademien, IVA, och riktar sig till verksamma inom i huvudsak naturvetenskap, teknik, ekonomi eller juridik.

Åke Almgren Active Power (NASDAQ: ACPW), manufacturer of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and modular infrastructure solutions, today announced Dr. Ake Almgren, the company's chairman of the board, will become the company's interim president and CEO. Dr. Almgren holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Linkopings Tekniska Hogskola in Sweden and a Masters of Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
Samir Birkho Samir Brikho, Chief Executive of AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. Samir Brikho was appointed Chief Executive of AMEC plc on 1 October 2006. Prior to joining AMEC, he was a member of the group executive committee of ABB Ltd., Switzerland, Head of the Power Systems Division and Chairman of ABB Lummus Global, ABB’s international projects and services business. Samir holds an engineering degree, a Master of Science in Thermal Technology from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, and completed the YMP Program at INSEAD in France in 1991. Magnus MackAldener, T-91 Dr Magnus MackAldener, Head of Fluid and Emission Treatment at Scania, has been awarded the Professor Ferdinand Porsche Prize for outstanding research in vehicle engineering. He receives the award for development of an advanced exhaust aftertreatment system. The system enabled Scania as early as spring 2011 to unveil Euro 6-compliant engines MackAldener, who was born in 1970, joined Scania in 1997 after completing a Master of Science degree at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm.
Alper Aydemir A researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology's Computer Vision and Active Perception Lab (CVAP), Aydemir officially begins work June 17 at NASA's Los Angeles research facility. Doremir DoReMIR app "ScoreCleaner Notes", developed by mobile agency Mobiento, is the winner of the Golden Lion in Cannes. The app makes notes of one's own song - the one hums into the phone. The Swedish, technically very advanced, innovation is a success in Japan, where it ranked in the top of the app charts. The product is the result of 20 years of intensive research. ScoreCleaner is developed by DoReMIR Music Research AB was founded in 2008 by Sven Ahlbäck, musician and professor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Sven Emtell, MSc from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Maja Säfström, A-2006 Offecct has awarded the prestigious Offecct Award in 2013, a grant of SEK 10 000 and a diploma, to Maja Säfström for the project "100 Days of drawings." Maja Säfström studied architecture at KTH in Stockholm. She has also worked for one year in an architect's office in Shanghai. After graduating Säfström returns to her own office, Architecture Factory.

Gregg Vanourek is a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Business Administration and Economics (Indek) at KTH.

Mats Granryd, M-84 Mats Granryd, is one of three new board members at Envac. Envac AB, which is one of Sweden's leading environmental technology companies and a world leader within automated waste collection, is adding the following members to its board. Mats Granryd, born 1962, is an engineering graduate of KTH Royal Institute of Technology (1988). Mats has previously worked at Ericsson, including as Head of Market Unit India & Sri Lanka. Since 2010, he has been CEO and President of Tele2 AB.
Kai Wärn, M-81 Husqvarna Group has appointed Kai Wärn as President and CEO, effective from July 1. Born in 1959 and a graduate from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, Mr Wärn has had a varied career. Between 1985 and 2004 he worked for ABB, where he held various senior international positions including roles in Belgium, Germany and the UK. Between 2004 and 2010 he was president and CEO at Seco Tools, a global metal cutting tools company, at that time listed at NASDAQ OMX Nordic stock exchange. Most recently he held the position of operations partner at private equity company IK Investment Partners.
George Jöngren, E-94 George Jöngren was one of three to be named Innovator of the Year at Ericsson general meeting on April 9. George Jöngren is 39 years old and works at Ericsson Research in Kista. He has a PhD in signal processing from KTH, and is on 104 patent applications.

Torbjörn Carlberg, BM-70 Torbjörn Carlberg, Professor of Materials Engineering at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall, was awarded the Big Aluminum Price on 18 April from the organization Swedish Aluminium. Torbjörn Carlberg received his doctorate in 1979 at KTH. 1991 he moved to Sundsvall and since 2000 he is professor of materials engineering. An important part of his research has been the area of ​​microgravity, with experiments performed in space to study the effects of gravity on solidification processes. Torbjörn Carlberg is today the only professor in Sweden which trains graduate students specializing in aluminum.

Martin Månsson, B-95 Martin Månsson joins LQM as neutron instrument scientist (TASP) and scientific collaborator at PSI. Martin obtained his MSc as well as PhD in Materials Physics at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm and then conducted a 3 year postdoc at PSI in a direct collaboration with Toyota Central Research & Development Labs. in Japan.
Mats Boij, F-88 KTH mathematician praised in U.S. Congress. a California congressman recently praised KTH Professor Mats Boij's ground-breaking work in mathematics during a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives. Democratic U.S. Rep. Jerry McNerney referred to Boij's work on what is known as the "Boij-Söderberg theory" while speaking about important research being done on vector bundles at the Berkeley Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI). The Boij-Söderberg theory was created a few years ago, when Boij and PhD student Jonas Söderberg made a ground-breaking discovery in commutative algebra and algebraic geometry.
Henrik Karlsson, I-97 KTH alumnus Henrik Karlsson, founder and CEO of Biorecro, was appointed Innovator of the Year in Veckans Affärers annual list of 101 supertalents 2012. Among the 101 supertalents another 15 KTH alumni can be found.
Patrik Ölund, B-85 Patrick Ölund, Research Director, has been awarded the 2013 Kami-price of one million dollars. He is a mining engineer and is responsible for all research and development in Ovako Group's facilities in Hofors, Hallefors, Boxholm, Smederevo and Imatra. (2013-01-30)
Christer Fuglesang Christer Fuglesang, the first Swede in space, will head the Aerospace Engineering master's programme at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, beginning in April. The former European Space Agency astronaut, who holds a master's degree from the same programme that he will soon direct, flew two NASA missions, in 2006 and 2008. He received his master of science degree in Engineering Physics from KTH in 1981. At the university, Fuglesang will conduct his own research and work with the marketing of space science and technology, says KTH President Peter Gudmundson. (2013-01-30)

Jack Hanson Jack Hanson, architect, opened his architectural office in Falun in 1956. For nearly 40 years Jack Hanson put his mark on the contemporary urban landscape, particularly in Falun and Borlange. Lars Wågberg, K-77 Lars Ekman Wågberg new Ekman -medalist. The medal was awarded during the Ekman Days on January 22 at Berns in Stockholm. Professor Lars Wågberg has long contributed to advances within paper chemistry and has over the last decade built a highly successful business at KTH focusing on fiber technology, including the characteristics and mechanisms of nano-cellulose area. Hon började sedan på NCC, där hon senare blev koncerndirektör för Miljö och kvalitet. 2001 gick hon vidare till Miljödepartementet som chef för enheten för hållbart samhällsbyggande. Göran Lindbergh, K-80 Fredrik Lagergren, CEO at KTH Executive School, was elected as new member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.. Utvald som en av 24 nya ledamöter i Kungl. Ingenjörsvetenskapsakademien Han är född 1959 och professor vid KTH, väljs in i IVAs avdelning IV - Kemiteknik. Han är professor i tillämpad elektrokemi vid Institutionen för kemiteknik på KTH. Inom elektrolys och kloratprocess har han gjort grundläggande och banbrytande arbeten. Göran var även en pionjär i användandet av datorstyrd elektrokemisk mätteknik. Idag är det framför allt inom bränslecells- och batteriforskning som Göran etablerat sig nationellt och internationellt. Han leder idag flera doktorander. (2012-12-19)
Sara Mazur, E-85 Efter 17,5 år på Ericsson har Sara Mazur precis klivit in i rollen som chef för 600 personer i forskningsorganisationen. Hon läste elektronik på KTH och doktorerade i fusionsplasmafysik, där man strävar efter att kunna använda fusion, solens energikälla, som energikälla på jorden. 1995 började hon på telekomjätten Ericsson 1995. Hon har varit med från ett tidigt stadium i forskargrupper bakom både 3G och 4G. (2012-12-18)

Jan Uddenfeldt, E-73 Jan Uddenfeldt joins Guavus Industry Advisory Board. Dr. Uddenfeldt is currently a Senior Advisor to the Corporate Executive Officer of Research and Development at Sony Corporation and Until this month served as Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Sony Mobile Communications. He is the recipient of Several prizes for his achievements, claen the German Edward Rhein Foundation Technology Prize in 1997 for innovation in GSM technologies and the Swedish KTH Prize in 2000 for GSM and 3G. In 2005, he Received a Gold Medal from the Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences for his contribution to the cellular communications industry. Bioswervo Bioservo´s robotic glove took home the Innovation Award. The Swedish company Bioservo Technologies has developed the SEMGlove (Soft Extra Muscle), a glove with pressure sensitive sensors and robotics, which adds extra power in your grip. Anders Karlsson, F-84 Anders Karlsson has in Nov. 2012 joined Elsevier as Vice President Academic Relations, Japan/Asia Pacific, stationed in Tokyo, Japan. Elsevier is a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services. A global business headquartered in Amsterdam, Elsevier employs 7,000 people worldwide. Before joining Elsevier, Karlsson served for five years from 2007 to 2012 as Counselor of Science and Innovation at the Embassy of Sweden in Tokyo. From 2000-2011 he was also Professor of Quantum Photonics at KTH, working extensively in national and international projects. He became CEO at Vasa kronan in early 2008, and has, within short, been responsible for the largest real estate company in five years. Augustinas and Kristijonas Vizbaras School of ICT alumni awarded at Swedish business awards. Augustinas and Kristijonas Vizbaras from Lithuania took their Masters degree from the Nanotechnology program at School of ICT in 2009. Together with their brother Dominykas Vizabaras they started Brolis Semiconductors in 2011. Less than a year later they received the Young Entrepreneur of the year award at Swedish business awards in Vilnius.
Veronica Augustsson, TIDAE-98 Veronica Augustsson new CEO of Cinnober. Veronica Augustsson has made an impressive journey and was recently mentioned in Financial News’ “40 under 40 Rising Stars of Trading and Technology” list. She has now been appointed CEO of leading financial technology company Cinnober. Veronica Augustsson began her career at Cinnober, the Swedish-based technology provider, over ten years ago and has since held a number of key positions within the company. She holds a Master’s Degree in computer engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm.
Elisabeth Berglund LINK arkitektur has appointed Elisabeth Berglund CEO for the Swedish operations. She recently held a position at Tyréns where she was responsible for urban development all over the country, and before that responsible for the eastern region within the company. Berglund finished her architectural studies at KTH architectural studies with focus on urban development in the mid-70´s.

Christina Karlsson Kazeem, V-84 Christina Karlsson Kazeem is appointed CEO of Hilanders. Christina recently held the position as Group Market Communication Manager at Niscayah Group AB. Karlsson Kazeem has a masters degree from KTH, and has experience from working at prominent digital agencys such as Razorfish, BBDO and Creuna, which Christina built up as partner, VP and sales manager.
Sara Mazur, E-85 Sara Mazur is apppointed head of research at Ericsson, within Technology. She will enter the position on November 19. Sara Mazur is currently system manager within Networks, and has been at Ericsson since 1995.
Håkan Samuelsson Håkan Samuelsson is appointed new CEO at Volvo PV. The former MAN-manager Håkan Samuelsson succeeds Stefan Jacoby. Håkan Samuelsson was CEO at MAN between 2005-2009. Since 2010 he is member of the Volvo board.
