Our research leads to output in the form of publications, skilled persons, prototypes, spin-off companies, etc. Impact is when this output creates value. Value can be, e.g., increased knowledge, new products, wealth, health, well-being or improved sustainability. As researchers, we typically do not create the value directly; rather, specific stakeholder create value based on our outputs.
What we should ensure though, as researchers, is an appropriate transfer of our research output to potential stakeholders. This is where research communication plays a crucial role, and why we should be strategic in our communication.
Why should we care about this? Because when our stakeholders (companies, society) understand the value we can create for them, they will (re)invest in our research.
In the presentation, Wouter van der Wijngaart will show some simple tips and tricks that can help you to communicate your research in a more focused manner.
The language of the workshop is English.
