Engineering of tissue by the use of silk assembly
Welcome to a lunch lecture.
Time: Wed 2019-11-06 12.15 - 13.00
Lecturer: My Hedhammar, School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health
Location: Sydöstra galleriet/South East Gallery
Tissues are built of cells integrated in an extracellular matrix of thin and elastic fibers. We can produce a recombinant silk protein that assemble into microfibers that support growth of integrated human cells into tissue-like constructs. We develop this with the aim to engineer functional tissue models for drug development.
