The Library takes care of all open access publishing

Published Dec 18, 2019

From January 1, 2020, all KTH researchers will be able to publish almost everything open access, and free of cost and administration – this will be handled by the library.

It has now been decided that the KTH Library will handle all of KTH’s costs for open access publishing, including smaller publishers. This means that individual researchers and schools won’t have to handle any invoices or direct costs in the future. With the new publishing agreements, sign with big publishers such as Elsevier and Wiley, a majority of everything published will be open access.

The new publishing agreement means:

  • more open access publishing, and a greater opportunity for dissemination of research results
  • a more even distribution of costs within KTH
  • less administration for the schools and researcher

The library will visit all schools at the beginning of next year to tell you more about the new agreements.
