New makerspace to open at the library

Two students working with prototypes
Published Mar 20, 2026

KTH is investing in developing makerspaces across all schools and establishing a central makerspace at KTH Library. The goal is for everything to be in place in time for KTH’s and the library’s 200th anniversary in 2027.

The central makerspace will be an open meeting place and a gateway to KTH’s other makerspaces, where students and staff can work hands-on with projects, prototypes and ideas.

At the same time, five specialised makerspaces will be established at the schools. These will be integrated into education and accessible to everyone at KTH.

More detailed plans for the library makerspace—its design and how it will operate—will be developed during the spring.
