Autoimmune diseases are diagnosed and sub-classified based on clinical presentation, supported by laboratory tests measuring routine and disease-associated biomarkers. However, there remains a substantial need to better capture the complexity and heterogeneity of these conditions in order to improve patients´ stratification and treatment.

Affinity proteomics now enables the parallel analysis of thousands of autoantibodies and proteins, providing new opportunities for identifying disease- and subgroup-associated molecular signatures.
