Japan’s Imperial System in Time and World


This open seminar will focuse on the long process for the approval of the Emperor’s forthcoming abdication. With the help of Vitterhetsakademien, we have been able to invite Assistant Professor Shin Sato, a co-researcher to Professor Takashi Mikuriya of the University of Tokyo. Professor Mikuriya will join us on Skype. Professor Mikuriya has played a leading role in the formalizing of the Emperor's abdication as a deputy chair of the Advisory Council on Easing the Burden of the Official Duties and Public Activities of His Majesty the Emperor.

Welcome to an open lecture on Japan’s Imperial System in Time and World Stockholm, 6 September 2017

KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, has the pleasure to announce a lecture on Japan’s governmental system by Assistant Professor Shin Sato from the University of Tokyo.

Date: Wednesday, 6 September Time: 17:00 – 19:00

Place: Salongen, KTH Library building Main campus (subway station Tekniska högskolan)

Assistant Professor Shin Sato, a young and promising researcher in political science, will address the imperial system of government in Japan, focusing on the long process for the approval of the Emperor’s forthcoming abdication. During this lecture, Prof. Takashi Mikuriya of the University of Tokyo will join us on Skype. Prof. Mikuriya has played a leading role in the formalizing of the Emperor's abdication as a deputy chair of the Advisory Council on Easing the Burden of the Official Duties and Public Activities of His Majesty the Emperor. The lecture is arranged by the School of Architecture and the School of Education and Communication for Engineering Science, with support from the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters (Vitterhetsakademien). The lecture will be held in English.
