Roy Bendor: Speculation for the masses!   Abstract: In this talk I will briefly introduce speculative design and point to how it is moving from the “showroom” to the “field” – in Ilpo Koskinen et al.’s terms – along three axes: grounding the speculation, opening it to wide public participation, and applying (some) rigor in assessing its outcomes. I will use as many examples as I can cram into a 30 mins talk, and promise to only mention Dunne & Raby once.   Bio: Roy Bendor is Associate Professor of Critical Design and Director of the Design for Interaction Master’s program at Delft University of Technology. His work explores the capacity of design to disclose and promote alternative social, political and environmental futures. He is currently visiting KTH as a Digital Futures Scholar-in-Residence.
