Five research projects that will change the future industry

Published Mar 21, 2019

The Royal Academy of Engineering (IVA) has listed the top 100 Swedish research projects with potential to make substantial contributions to industry and society. On this year's 100 list are five projects that stems from research in electrical engineering and computer science at KTH.

Digitalisation was the theme of the IVA 100 list of 2019. IVA divided digitalisation in five subcategories: smart industry, society and welfare, infrastructure, smart products and services, and business models and value-chains. Five of the 100 entries are connected to the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science:

mindfulHU

About the research: Based on Bin Zhu’s PhD research at KTH, mindfulHU combines the Eastern meditative traditions with interactive technologies. Our solution is to bring the personalized service of breathing techniques to people’s daily life, for well-being anytime and anywhere. We are developing a physical device with biofeedback technology to coach the breath-based stress reduction program according to user’s body condition and environment. Our target customers could include corporations and health management providers.

Trustworthy IoT

About the research: Deploying Internet of Things (IoT) applications in key sectors, e.g., health, industry automation, transportation, cannot create new risks. Our advanced yet pragmatic approach yields strong IoT security and privacy solutions, e.g., credential management, secure and privacy-preserving location-based services, secure global navigation satellite system receivers. Tailoring them to specific needs can bring a competitive edge to a broad gamut of products/services.
