Welcome to the Electromagnetic Engineering Lab

We welcome you to the webpage of the Electromagnetic Engineering (ETK) lab at the KTH School of Electrical Engineering.

Transformer in the electric distribution system

The scientific and technical activities of the Electromagnetic Engineering lab include basic electromagnetic theory and the physical and technical fundamentals for design of electrical devices.

Courses are given for all year-groups from first-year undergraduate to MSc elective courses. The lower years cover electromagnetic theory and some project work, and the higher years reflect the research specialisms of the division in magnetic materials, insulation, modelling, condition assessment and reliability.

The division's activities are split between research groups working with electromagnetic theory, diagnostic techniques for electrical insulation, the application, modelling and measurement of magnetic materials and superconductors, the application of Reliability Centred Asset Management to electrical power systems, and electromagnetic compatibility.
