PhD student Roya Nikjoo has received the High Voltage Association Student Excellence Award of 2016. The award was presented at the IEEE International Power Modulator and High Voltage Conference in San Francisco, United States in July.

The International Power Modulator and High Voltage Conference (IPMHVC) is sponsored by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS). It is held every other year during even years and typically occurs during one of the summer months.

During this year's event, Roya Nikjoo from the department of electromagnetic engineering received the High Voltage Association Student Excellence Award. The award is given to researchers how have made "outstanding contributions in the field of Dielectrics, Insulation and Breakdown - Effect of High Voltage Impulses on Partial Discharge Characteristics of oil-Impregnated Paper for Online Diagnostics".
