Multimedia communication

Multimedia computing and communication plays a major role in today's information society. The amount of visual information that we create, communicate, and consume is permanently increasing.

We need efficient algorithms that allow the economic distribution of video and augmented reality over our communication networks. We need smart algorithms that learn the underlying structure of the visual data to accomplish search and retrieval of visual information. We perform theoretical as well as experimental research using tools from information and coding theory, signal processing, and machine learning. Our results will shape multimedia communication in the future information society.
