Energy Dialogue Poster session 2012

Ph.D Poster session and cash-prize competition

Would you like to participate in a poster session during the 2012 KTH Energy Dialogue on November 22? This is a great opportunity to discuss your research with dozens of your fellow Ph.D students, KTH faculty, representatives of research funding agencies and specially invited corporate partners.

The best Ph.D poster will be selected by the audience and awarded with a ABB sponsored cash-prize, the two second best posters will receive scholarships for traveling to a scientific conference (1st price is 30 000 SEK, 2nd and 3rd price is 10 000 SEK each).

The KTH Energy Dialogue, hosted by the Energy Platform, is KTH’s annual venue aimed at profiling the wide range of energy-related research being conducted in our various schools and programmes to promote inter-disciplinary collaboration and strengthening the sense of community within the platform.

Last year’s Energy conference drew more than 200 attendees, and we expect at least as many this year. The Energy Dialogue will invite external guests, so your audience will include people who may very well be able to help your future career development. The Ph.D posters and abstracts will be available on-line after the event.

How to participate:

1) Submit an abstract

There are a limited number of entries to the competition.  All abstracts will go through a quality review and 50 posters will be accepted in total. The abstract should be no longer than 400 words and submitted in Word-format. The abstract should also indicate who is funding the project.

2) Produce and present a poster

Please note that the printing of the poster will be at your own expense and organisation. The poster shall not be wider than 90 cm to fit on the poster stands. The recommended size is 70cm x 100 cm in portrait page layout. The poster should be easy to understand also to those not active in your specific research field. The poster should include the logotypes of the organisations funding the project.

DEADLINES

Oct.8:  Deadline for abstracts. Submission is now closed.

Oct. 17: Poster acceptance mails will be sent out.

Nov. 22: KTH Energy Dialogue. You present your poster and hope to win! (Venue: Plattan in sing-Sing)

All participants of the Energy Dialogue are invited to vote on the best poster based on the following criteria:

  • Content. Your ability to communicate your research to non-specialists. Concrete, easy to understand? Easy for the guest to re-tell to others?
  • Visual lay-out. Does the poster attract interest? Is the poster easy to read and pleasing for the eye?
  • Personal engagement. How do you interact with the guests at Energy Dialogue? How do you verbally present your research poster?
