Digital Smart Production

The Digital Smart Production (DSP) unit conducts research in the domain of integration of cutting edge IT technologies in the manifacturing domain. 

DSP researchers works in close cooperation with Swedish and international companies and are active in standardization efforts both for the organizational dimension and for the information related one; the DSP units has activities in the areas connected with the idea of digital factory.

The technical dimension is coupled with the strategic one thought the concept of business model. Different aspects of the industrial automation control systems are investigated targeting “plug and produce”: self-organization, self-learning and dynamic workload control are some outstanding examples.

The group boasts a vast expertise in the domain of process and factory planning and it contributes to the emerging paradigm of learning factory. The output of the aforementioned research efforts is conveyed in several related courses that DSP offers to students from bachelor to graduate.
