Biography

Ove Bayard works as a university lecturer, coordinator and tutor in different courses on the institution for Production Engineering within the School of Industrial Technique and Management. Besides this he is active in some different research projects. Ove is born 1967 and have a PhD and licentiate wihtin the area Production Engineering.

Research

Ove's primary research activity att IIP/KTH is concentrated to the field of metal cutting modelling which is also his area of specific interest. He is for instance participating in the "Short Cut"-project. It is a national project which focuses on metal cutting and is financed by Strategiska stiftelsen and a number of Swedish companies.

EPRODE/ EPRODEC

Ove participated in EPRODE, a project which aimed to develop a uniform curriculum for production techniques in Europe. The project was granted and sanctioned by the European Union. Right now he is involved in the project EPRODEC, which is the successor to the project EPRODE. The focus of EPRODEC is the certification process of curriculat for production techniques.

Research merits

  • Licentiate thesis with the title “Investigation of the verification techniques for modelling turning processes."
  • Doctoral thesis with the title “Investigation of Forces and Contact Area for Modelling Turning Processes."

Research activities and teaching merits

  • Participating in the "Short Cut"-project. Short Cut is a national project which focuses on metal cutting and is financed by Strategiska stiftelsen and a number of Swedish companies.
  • Coordinator for the EPRODEC project. This is continuation of the EPRODE project which goal was to develop a uniform curriculum for the production engineers within Europe. EPRODEC focuses on the certification process for the curricula and is granted by the European Commission.
  • Coordinator for the course Efficient Engineering (4G1134 Effektiv Produktion).
  • Teacher and co-ordinator for student projects in the course Mechanical Engineering (4A1101 Maskinteknik).
  • Teacher and laboratory assistant in the course Manufacturing Technology and planning (4G1184).
  • Teacher and co-ordinator for student projects in a course for Design and Product Realization C (4F1814 DOP C).
  • Teacher and coordinator for the course Machining for production Engineers (4G4209 Bearbetningsteknik för Produktionstekniker).

Pedagogic courses

  • English for MMT teachers: Workshop 1: Written English
  • English for MMT teachers: Workshop 2: Written English
  • English for MMT teachers: Workshop 3: Spoken English
  • To communicate (Att kommunicera)
  • University pedagogy (Högskolepedagogik 1)

Education

Ove presented his doctoral thesis, entitled "Investigation of Forces and Contact Area for Modelling Turning Processes", in 2003. His main supervisor was Prof. Bo Lindström. The research was based on results from theoretical analysis methods such as FEM software and the results from experimental investigations. In the experimental work, various types of test equipment hase been used. The purpose of his project has been to develop relevant predictive process models. Ove's project was part of a larger research project which aimed to obtain a better knowledge and understanding of the mechanisms of metal cutting and the parameters that influence the process.

When he started his doctoral studies at KTH, Ove had Mountain Engineering degree from Material Technique Line at KTH. He have also read Management, CAD / CAM and worked for some time as a personal assistant for the disabled.
