Mechatronics and Embedded Control Systems
Research in mechatronics and embedded control systems are focused on the development of methods and tools for model-based design, development of advanced mechatronics systems, architecture design and safety.
Our key research areas include:
- Integrated design and optimization of mechatronic systems
- Model-based engineering methodology and integrated development environments
- Architecture design
- Simulation and haptics
A long term goal in the area of methods and tools for model based design of advanced mechatronic systems is to provide a “toolbox” where mechanical structure, transducers, control functions/algorithms, and embedded systems can be modelled, synthesized and analyzed in an integrated process.
More applied research is conducted in areas like automotive hybrid and embedded systems, robotic grasping and manipulation, haptics for medical simulation, and forest automation.
With KTH as a platform, we offer a very strong, deep and broad, academic research competence. We have close ties with industry in several domains and academic collaboration with many universities around the world.
