Professor Lihui Wang at the Department of Production Engineering, KTH, has been elected President of the International Academy of Engineering and Technology (AET) - an international network that brings together leading researchers and industry leaders in engineering and technology..

Wang previously served as AET’s Vice President from 2023 to 2025 and takes now on the leadership role at a time when engineering and technology are increasingly central to addressing global challenges such as climate change, energy transition, and digital transformation. Lihui Wang’s presidency spans from 2025 to 2027.

In his inaugural message, Wang said he accepted the role “with great honor and a deep sense of responsibility,” emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary research and stronger links between scientific discovery and industrial practice.

Increase engagement among members

One of Wang's short-term priorities as president is to increase engagement among AET members and expand the academy’s global visibility. Planned initiatives include the bi-annual AET Summit, which will highlight emerging research and technological breakthroughs, and the AET Forum, designed for high-level discussions between academic and industrial leaders.

According to Wang the Presidency of AET will help to promote KTH worldwide and elevate KTH to the leading position in engineering and technology among peers.

Looking further ahead, Wang hopes to establish AET as a leading international platform for scientific advancement and industrial collaboration, helping to translate innovative ideas into real-world solutions that support sustainable development.
