Access to nutritious food is fundamental to both public health and social justice, yet disparities in its availability persist as a major urban challenge. The project investigates the spatial distribution of food deserts and food oases in Stockholm by integrating GIS-based mapping with comprehensive data on socioeconomic, demographic, safety, and transportation factors. The goal is to identify neighborhoods with limited access to nutritious food and to correlate these patterns with key indicators such as income, education, crime rates, and transit availability.

Recognizing that disparities in food access are deeply intertwined with broader social and economic injustices, the study aims to inform policies that guarantee equitable access to nutritious food for every citizen. This ethical perspective is critical for guiding urban planning strategies that address not only the technical aspects of accessibility but also the underlying structural factors perpetuating food inequity, ultimately promoting social justice and community well-being.
