Too Many Fibrils, Too Little Space: Nanofibril Networks in Theory and Applications
Nanofibrils are slender building blocks that can assemble into crowded and interconnected networks with unique dynamic mechanical properties. This docent lecture will discuss how nanofibrils transition from dilute dispersions to fibrillar glasses and gels, and how concentration, interactions, and network formation govern material behavior.

The lecture will cover fundamental concepts related to fibril morphology, crowding, colloidal interactions, and soft matter physics, with examples from cellulose nanofibril systems. It will further highlight how nanofibril networks can be utilized in emerging applications such as sustainable materials, adaptive separation technologies, and soft actuators. The lecture will reflect on past, present, and future directions of my research on nanofibril networks.
