Hear from Daniel Ek

Together with Martin Lorentzon, Daniel Ek co-founded Spotify in 2006. Today, Spotify is the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service with more than 626 million users, including 246 million subscribers across 184 markets.

In 2021, Ek founded Prima Materia, a European investment company. Most recently, he co-founded Neko Health, together with Hjalmar Nilsonne, who started his first company Watty with support from KTH Innovation in 2012. Ek is also one of the donors who enabled the KTH Innovation Award .

Ek’s entrepreneurial spirit can be traced back to his early teens, creating and selling websites, even employing friends to scale his small business. He also founded the marketing firm Advertigo before starting up Spotify.

What do you need to start a company at a young age? What has the Spotify journey been like, and what is Ek’s vision for the future?
