Hear KTH Researcher Peter Georén and his co-founder Jonas Tholin tell the story of the KTH startup Inclined Labs, how they became the first people in the world to fly wingsuits indoors, and give their best advice on how you can follow in their footsteps.

A top-secret, abandoned military facility, a wild idea, and cutting-edge research came together to create an entirely unique experience. When researchers from KTH and KI realized that they could make it possible to fly for real in a modified, horizontal wind tunnel, forward against the air current instead of falling as in a vertical tunnel, they understood that they had accomplished something no one had ever done before.

After years of testing and modifying The Swedish National Aeronautical Research Institute’s Low speed Tunnel 1 – LT1, formerly used in the development of Swedish combat aircraft, the team succeeded and became the first people in the world to fly free horizontally.

Behind their innovation lies groundbreaking and patented solutions developed using scientific methodology with advanced modelling, prototype testing of the technical tunnel concept, and a novel safety system and flight training technique. On the basis of Inclined Labs' commercial focus, only parts of the vast amount of data have been published. In 2017, after getting support from KTH Innovation, the facility Indoor Wingsuit Stockholm by Inclined Labs  could open up to the public.

Hear KTH Researcher Peter Georén and his co-founder Jonas Tholin tell the story of the KTH startup Inclined Labs, share some of the secrets from the old military research facility, and give their best advice on how you can follow in their footsteps.
