Record interest in KTH Innovation's Launch Program

KTH Innovation supports more than 450 teams with new ideas from students, researchers, and employees at KTH every year. Startups that have begun their journeys at KTH Innovation include Greenely, Airmee, Volumental, and SuperAnnotate. It is also where the founders behind some of Sweden's fastest-growing startups, including Lovable and Neko Health, founded their first companies.

Launch is KTH Innovation's program for teams ready to take the next step from promising technology and early customer insights to a scalable company. Through the program, participants gain access to coaching, business development support, mentorship, investor networks, office space, and international growth opportunities through collaborations with leading universities and startup hubs. They also become part of a tight-knit community.

Over the past year, several Launch alumni have reached important international milestones. Dentio secured investment from Andreessen Horowitz, while Elyra was accepted into Y Combinator. Collectively, companies that have participated in the program have raised more than SEK 2 billion in funding.

AI remains a strong theme in the new batch, but there is also a clear increase in startups developing proprietary hardware and advanced technologies in areas such as energy, industry, and health.

“AI continues to be a strong driver among the new startups. At the same time, we are seeing more teams building technology in energy, industry, and health. It reflects both the technical breadth and the high level of ambition among entrepreneurs at KTH,” says Lisa Ericsson, Head of KTH Innovation.

Among this year's companies are BAS Air Energy, developing next-generation heat pump technology; NeurAtom, building software for the nuclear energy industry; HEPO, developing battery-free connectivity for industrial IoT systems; and BinSight, helping hospitals measure and reduce pharmaceutical waste.

Several of the teams combine deep technical expertise from KTH with experience from industry, healthcare, and other leading universities.

New program for AI startups with rapid growth potential

The strong interest in this year's programs has also led to the launch of KTH Innovation Sprint, a new program for AI startups with the potential for rapid growth.

Ten teams have been selected for the inaugural summer cohort. Over three months, they will focus on customer acquisition, business models, distribution strategies, and preparing to raise capital.

The first workshop was held together with Jacob Key from Luminar Ventures.

“As investors, we look for teams that combine deep technical expertise with a genuine ability to understand their customers. Right now, we see tremendous potential at the intersection of research and the next generation of agentic AI. That was evident among several of the teams selected for the Sprint program,” says Jacob Key, Investor at Luminar Ventures.
