15 new startups founded by students and researchers at KTH are starting their journey in KTH Innovation Launch. From heat-resistant potato crops to more efficient e-bike propulsion – meet Batch 20!

Over 350 startups have passed through KTH Innovation Launch  (formerly known as the pre-incubator program) since the start in 2011. It has been described as a masterclass on how to build a startup, and compared with prominent programs like Berkeley Skydeck. In the program, passionate teams who want to take their startup project to the next level get the support they need to launch on the market within 6-12 months. Around 10% of 400+ the startup projects supported by KTH Innovation join this program every year. Donnie S.C. Lygonis is business development coach at KTH Innovation and responsible for Batch 20.

”KTH Innovation Launch is for the startup founders that want to create something bigger, the ones that want to see lasting impact in the world, so the selection process is rigorous and we only pick the ones we feel have the potential as founders to reach the stars. I have very high hopes for Batch 20", he says.

Viktoria Tagner
Viktoria Tagner is studying Molecular Science and Technology at KTH. She has founded Solize with the goal of making it easy to upgrade your glasses with prescription lenses.

One of the teams in the program is Solize, founded by KTH student Viktoria Tagner. She wants to make it easy and affordable to upgrade your sunglasses, ski goggles or other eyewear with prescription lenses.

"In 10 years, we want our solution to be available to everyone, everywhere. I'm really looking forward to meeting all the people in KTH Innovation Launch, from the industry leaders coming in for the workshops to the other teams in the program", says Viktoria Tagner.

Another team is the spacetech startup AciSpace. They aim to break down the barriers of space exploration and make space accessible to all by transforming CubeSat payload integration and development.

"We want to find a mission as soon as possible", says founder Ngai Nam Chan, research engineer for space technology at the KTH Department of Engineering Mechanics. "We’re already in the manufacturing phase, so we aim to secure a mission for our product within a year".

The teams in the program will get 6-12 months of access to KTH Innovation’s premises, workshops with invited experts, and a supportive community to bring them through their ups and downs. They will also continue getting access to KTH Innovation’s support in coaching, funding, recruitment and patents and immaterial rights.
