BioRESorb: Transforming Food Waste to Porous Materials

- with Antonio Capezza

Antonio Capezza is a researcher within the division of polymeric materials and project leader of BioRESorb. In the webinar, Antonio will introduce us to the team's research in converting food- and bio-based industrial side-streams to functional and biodegradable porous materials.

The BioRESorb research focuses on designing biopolymer blends derived from biomass waste and low-value residues. These porous materials are engineered to achieve controlled properties, such as absorbent structures and permeable membranes, enabling applications at the interface of material sustainability, agriculture and wound dressing.

By integrating circular design, scalable processing and end-of-life biodegradation studies, this research contributes to sustainable food systems and the transition away from fossil-based single-use plastics.
