Graduation ceremony

The graduation ceremony for newly graduated architects, masters of science in engineering, bachelors of science in engineering, master's degree holders, and candidates from the programmes that end with a bachelor's degree takes place twice a year; 24 and 25 May 2023 and 14 and 15 December 2022. In 2022, an additional ceremony will be held 4 October. You have the possibility to participate in the graduation ceremony within three years from your degree date.

Five steps to the graduation ceremony

1. Have you applied for a degree?

You need to apply for your degree in good time for your application to be handled and issued (see point 4). Read more on how to apply for a degree. 

Please note that if you have completed a bachelor's degree as part of a five-year engineering or architectural programme, you are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony when your degree of master of science or degree of master of archtecture has been issued.

2. Have you received your degree certificate?

To register for the ceremony, you must have had your degree certificate issued. The degree certificate is issued digitally and sent to the e-mail address you have provided in Ladok.

3. Sign the inquiry

To be able to book tickets you must have signed the Inquiry . The invitation is only sent to those who signed the inquiry.
To receive an invitation, you must have registered no later than:
23 August (for 4 October 2022)
10 November (for 14 and 15 December 2022)
4 April (for 24 and 25 May 2023)

During the ceremony in October all schools participate the same day. 

On 14 December 2022 the following schools participate: CBH, EECS och SCI.
On 15 December 2022 the following schools participate: ABE och ITM.
On 24 May 2023 the following schools participate: ABE och EECS.
On 25 May 2023 the following schools participate: CBH, ITM och SCI.

4. Tickets are released and booking opens

An invitation to the booking page for the ceremony in May, is sent out on 26 August 2022 and the booking opens at 10:00 . The number of seats is strictly limited to 300 graduates/day. First come, first served. When the number of seats is filled, the booking page closes. You will be able to bring three guests.

If your degree is not issued in Ladok your registration will be annulled.

In order for your application for the ceremony to be approved, your degree certificate must be registered no later than the following dates:
23 August (for 4 October 2022)
10 November (for 14 and 15 December 2022)
4 April (for 24 and 25 May 2023)

5. The gradutation ceremony

When you have booked a place for the ceremony, you will receive a confirmation of your registration the same week. Then, about 2 weeks before the ceremony, you will receive an email with important information about the day and your tickets. It is important that you read all the information that is sent to you.

The upcoming ceremonies will take place on 4 October and 14 and 15 December 2022. The entrance opens at 16:20 and the ceremony start at 17:00. Only guests with tickets are welcome.

The ceremony takes place at Stockholm City Hall. As tradition dictates, there will be speeches by the KTH president or vice president and by the THS president or vice president. KTH´s Academic Orchestra will perform music.

The graduation ceremony is the academic ceremony when KTH celebrates the newly graduated architects, masters of science in engineering, bachelors of sceience in engineering, master's degree holders and candidates from the bachelor's programmes. The diplomas are presented by the KTH president or vice president. The degree certificate is your formal proof of your degree. The diploma is only a souvenir.

At the ceremony in May the following awards are given out: Gunnar Wallquists study medal, Alum of the Year and Global Development HUB Teacher Award. 

At the ceremony in December the following awards are given out: KTH's Pedagogical prize, The President's Equality and Diversity prize and Teacher of the year. 

You have the possibility to participate in the graduation ceremony within 3 years from your exam.
