KTH Debate is a new arena and meeting place for discussing current and important societal issues in research and education. It is a forum where opinions, research results and ideas collide. At that intersection and in the meeting, relevant and new knowledge emerges.
Program spring 2022
Is nuclear power the solution?
We are facing an energy transition of an unprecedented kind and the energy issue is more relevant than ever, as is the demand for electricity. More and more people are calling for sustainable solutions. What do research, politics and legislation say? How does politics maneuver between the various goal conflicts that arise? Is the new nuclear power with small reactors the way forward?
These are some of the issues that will be debated. Moderator Åsa Julin leads the debate and distributes the floor.
The debate begins with a short historical exposition of nuclear power by Per Högselius, professor of technical history at KTH.
- Marie Knutsen-Öy, Responsible for energy policy at the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise

- Erik Pihl, Energy expert at the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation
