Mattias Sköld: Pierre Schaeffer - introducing sound as music (Sound and music interaction seminars)
Abstract:
A lecture focused on Schaeffer's analysis of music-making, listening and correlations between the physical signal and the musical object. Schaeffer laid the foundation for a new music theory based on sound characteristics regardless of sound source. Starting from music-making and hearing, Schaeffer's research originated electroacoustic music theory and foreshadowed music psychology research.
