KTH was ranked 82nd best university in the world, in the 2027 QS World University Ranking. The new list places KTH second among universities in Sweden and 27th in Europe.

The QS World University Rankings  are issued each June, providing students worldwide with an evaluation of leading universities. 1,504 universities were rated according to numerous weighted metrics, or indicators, among them: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.

Lund University is the best in Sweden, according to QS. Once again, MIT is the best in the world, whilst Imperial College London takes first place in Europe. KTH is the eleventh-best university in the European Union and ranks 27th in Europe.

KTH was ranked lower than the previous year, when it ranked 78th, despite improved scores in four out of nine indicators. The university’s total score was 72.7 out of 100. Here is a look at the scores and rankings for each indicator, compared to the 2026 rankings.

Academic reputation accounts for 30 percent of the overall score; citations per faculty accounts for 20 percent; employer reputation, 15 percent; faculty-student ratio, 10 percent. The remaining six indicators (sustainability, employment outcomes, international faculty, international students, international faculty and international research network) each contribute 5 percent of the score.
