The research area of the postdoc position is future 5G mobile networks. The main challenge in these networks is scalability – affordable infrastructure solutions for both very high data rates and/or large number of simple IoT devices. Energysmart network design is also an important tool. Examples of specifically challenging research topics are Ultra-Dense Wireless Access Networks, providing capacities exceeding 1 Gbit/s/m2 and high speed Internet access to large number of users onboard aircraft through Direct Air to Ground Communications for flying platforms and communication systems for mission critical applications with low latency and very high reliability and security. The position(s) are envisaged to focus on design and performance analysis for 5G network architectures for the above application areas. The position is with the Radio Communication Systems Lab at the department of Communication Systems (CoS) at KTH Information and Communication Technology at the KTH Kista Campus.
Applicants must hold or be about to receive Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related area. Excellent academic credentials and publication record and a strong background in wireless networking & communications are mandatory requirements. Experience in aeronautical communication systems, software defined radio, network virtualization, mobility and dynamic spectrum management is considered an advantage.
The evaluation will be based on the scientific quality of the candidate in accordance with the needs of the projects outlined above. The applicant should be highly motivated and able to work independently and perform critical thinking and analysis. Excellent written and spoken English proficiency, communication and teamwork skills are expected.
