KTH and Volvo Cars become strategic partners

KTH and Volvo Cars have launched a strategic partnership to strengthen their collaboration in research, education, and innovation. The partnership will focus on developing sustainable mobility solutions for the future, supporting the green transition, and addressing the significant recruitment needs in technical fields.

KTH and Volvo Cars have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a strategic partnership. 

"Through this partnership, KTH is further strengthening the collaboration between academia and industry. Together with Volvo Cars, we are creating new opportunities to develop the knowledge, technology and expertise needed for sustainable, intelligent mobility solutions in the future,” says Mikael Lindström, KTH's Deputy President.

Collaboration in research, education and skills provision 

The strategic partnership covers several areas where KTH and Volvo Cars share common interests and complementary strengths, such as materials science and AI. Particular focus is placed on future vehicle development and the green transition. 

The partnership also aims to strengthen the talent pool in areas where demand for skilled labour is growing rapidly. The ambition is to develop structured forms of collaboration and strengthen the link between research, educationand industry needs.

KTH's strategic partnerships 

KTH has 15 other strategic partnerships with organisations that are particularly important to the university's activities, contributing to its vision and overall objectives. 

Strategic partnerships are characterised by a long-term approach, regular dialogue at various organisational levels, and activities spanning a wide range of KTH's areas of expertise. They involve significant investment in research and education, as well as initiatives that strengthen societal impact and innovation.
