Election of Board Members to the University Board Appointed by the Faculty
The term of office for the three current board members representing KTH’s teachers and researchers expires on 30 April 2026. For the upcoming period, which runs from 1 May 2026 to 30 April 2029, new members will be elected by KTH’s eligible faculty.
The electronic vote will take place between 2 and 8 March 2026, and information about the voting procedure will be sent to all eligible voters on 19 February 2026.
Professor Prosun Bhattacharya Among the Candidates
One of the candidates standing for election is Prosun Bhattacharya, Professor at the Division of Water and Environmental Engineering, SEED. In his candidacy, Bhattacharya emphasizes his ambition to strengthen KTH’s internat,ional position through academic excellence, strategic leadership, and socially relevant research.
As a researcher, he focuses on developing scientifically rigorous methods to manage long-term risks related to water quality, the environment, and human health, often in close collaboration with academic and societal partners. A significant part of his research has been conducted in developing countries that have, in recent years, become important strategic partners for KTH, including through educational collaborations.
Bhattacharya also highlights the importance of integrating these perspectives into advanced education. He aims to equip students with the ability to connect technological and scientific knowledge to societal risks, responsibilities, and long-term consequences.
Aiming to Strengthen the Link Between Research and Society
If elected to the board, Bhattacharya intends to promote stronger strategic connections between basic research and applied research, foster inclusive working conditions, and uphold high academic quality. He particularly stresses the need for long-term stewardship of KTH as an internationally leading and socially vital university.
