Medical Image Processing and Visualization
We work with computer-assisted methods to process image data from medical imaging.
Medical imaging methods like radiography (X-rays), Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging and ultrasound are used in clinical routine and medical research to make diagnoses and to evaluate the effect of treatment given to the patient. The unit for medical image processing and visualization works on developing new ways to make this analysis more accurate and reliable by using computers.
One important goal is to develop new measurement methods for vascular disease, osteoporosis, tumours and dementia (quantitative image analysis). Another goal is to present images in an optimal way to physicians making a diagnosis or planning treatment (visualization).
