Exercise: Values

This exercise aims to get you to start think about your values, and how you can combine your professional life with your personal life according to your them.

The recruiter asks

"What is important for you at your work place and/or in your personal life?"

With this question the recruiter wants to know more about your values and what is going to make you thrive in a workplace. The importance with a good balance between work and personal life have become more important, because it is important for the employers that the employees like their jobs.

Use paper and pen or a similar tool when doing the exercise.

Reflect over this question: What is important for me regarding my career? Write down the values that is important for you today from the list, and feel free to write down your own suggestions.

Think about which of these values that is most important for you right now. Write down 3-5 values, both from career and personal values.

Step 3

Think about these questions and write down your answers: Which of your values can you combine? Are some of them hard to combine? Are you willing to compromise with some, but not with others? Which can´t you compromise with?

Reflect on

It is important to think of every aspect of your life before you make a decision. Career decisions can have an impact on your personal life, and your personal life can influence what kind of career decision you can make. Your values and prioritize will change during your life, and it is important to think about them now and then.
