Degree programme students

Moving to a new country is fun and exciting, but also challenging and you may face many questions along the way. At New at KTH you will find information about the steps necessary when preparing your trip to Sweden, as well as information on day-to-day life such as banking and public transportation. Always check these pages for current information regarding the Arrival and Introduction programme, as events and information will be added continuously!

Selection result statuses

There are different statuses that your application can receive in the selection results.

Admitted

Congratulations! You have been offered a place in the programme and you can find all the information you need for your pre-departure preparations here at our New at KTH website.

Conditionally admitted

Congratulations! You have been offered a place in the programme, but there are some steps you need to finalise before being officially admitted. You may need to pay the first instalment of the tuition fee if you are a fee-paying student. You may also be in your final year of your bachelor's studies and therefor required to present a degree certificate and final transcripts after arriving at KTH. All details on what you need to do will be provided once the results are published. You can find all information you require for your pre-departure preparations here on our New at KTH website.

If you have been conditionally admitted to studies at KTH for autumn 2021 and have not yet submitted your bachelor’s degree, you have to present your original degree certificate/diploma and your official transcript of records in its original language and English translation to the KTH Admissions Office. To do so you should upload your documents (in colour) to your University Admissions account before October 31, 2021. If you are unable to upload your documents before October 31 (for example due to the Covid-19 situation in your country of study), you need to contact the KTH Admissions Office  as soon as you have received your documents.

Please note that you are welcome to start your studies even though you have not yet submitted your documents.

Reserve

You have not been admitted, but placed on a waiting list. In some rare cases, reserves are offered a place, but chances are slim. If you are offered a place, you will receive an updated notification of selection results and then a welcome letter from the programme directly –you do not need to contact KTH for any updates. If you are not offered a place this year, you are welcome to apply again next year.

Conditionally placed on reserve

You have not been admitted, but placed on a waiting list. In some rare cases, reserves are offered a place, but chances are slim. If you are offered a place, you will receive an updated notification of selection results and then a welcome letter from the programme directly –you do not need to contact KTH for any updates. If you are not offered a place this year, you are welcome to apply again next year. If admitted and required to pay the tuition fee you will receive an invoice. Please note that you will not be able to pay the fee before you are officially admitted.

Your next step

If you are required to pay tuition fees, an invoice for the first semester is sent by email after the selection results have been published. The deadline for paying the tuition fee for the first semester is stated on the invoice. If the tuition fee is not paid within the deadline, you will lose your place in the programme. The invoice also has to be paid in order to complete your application for a residence permit and your application for housing through KTH Accommodation. After you have paid your tuition fee, start looking into the application for a residence permit  if you are a student from outside the EU/EEA.

It's time to start looking for accommodation. Some groups of students are guaranteed housing through KTH Accommodation , and the application will be open 1-31 May.

Pre-sessional course in English

KTH expects to offer a Pre-sessional course in English in August. At this point in time, it is not yet decided when the course will be given and in which format. We will update you as soon as the details are set.
