Research grants for research internships at the National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo

Published Sep 19, 2022

As a PhD-candidate or master's student at KTH, you have the opportunity to be a guest researcher at the leading institute for informatics in Japan.

The National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Tokyo has identified KTH as a prioritized partner. Master students and PhD-students at KTH are therefore eligible to apply for this research internship in a NII lab in Tokyo. Master students can use this opportunity for their master's degree projects. The grant amounts to 5,700 Yen per day.

The research visit should begin before April 2023.

Students need to find a supervising professor at NII and then write a Letter of Motivation. The letter should be sent to KTH Prof. Atsuto Maki, atsuto@kth.se , who is coordinating this program at KTH. Do that before the internal deadline, 17 October 2022.

Then the nomination will be made of up to three applicants. KTH Vice president Stefan Östlund is responsible for this nomination.

NII offers an exceptionally strong research environment. It is the only national institute in Japan in the area of informatics, with some 75 permanent professors and many visiting professors.

The institute is located in central Tokyo.
