Ask Yuxuan questions about KTH and read more about her decision to study at KTH, thoughts about Sweden, advice to prospective students and her plans for the future.
Hi, my name is Yuxuan Huang, and I come from China. I am a scholarship student, and my programme here at KTH is Computer Science. I completed my master's degree in Software Engineering in Nanjing University, China. Although it doesn’t sound like what a computer science student would do, I like travelling with my painting stuff, finding a nice spot, and paint all day.
What made you choose KTH, Stockholm and Sweden?
KTH is one of the best universities in Sweden, specialising in engineering and technology. What’s more, KTH ranks in the top 100 among all the universities in the world according to QS rankings. However, what attracts me about KTH is more than this. It has well designed courses and tracks for students to choose from and learn. Take my programme of computer science for example. Students are asked to take mandatory courses, which cover a wide range of topics in computer science in order to broaden their basic knowledge and help them discovering their own interests. Then the students can choose their study track and focus on courses meeting their own interests. I think this teaching pattern is excellent because students here not only acquire broad knowledge in their major, but also become specialists in one area. I have plans to pursue a PhD degree and I can say that it is really important for me to find out my own interests. And KTH helps me with this.
In addition, Stockholm is great too. It is covered with forests and water. If you just hold up your phone and take a picture, I dare to say it will be a nice scene. It’s also nice to take a walk and have fika with friends on weekends. The pace of life here is not so fast, and one can easily find a balance between work and life. Personally, I do like the life style here.
What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master’s studies?
If someone asks me for advice about where to start their master's studies, I would recommend KTH in Stockholm without hesitation. Here, you can enjoy a peaceful study life and have more time to think about your future. KTH and Stockholm is a place not only about the current moment, but also about the future.
